Dane’s Green Philosophy – Portion of a letter

22 July 2009 No Comment

Portion of a letter written to respond to a “green bandwagon” criticism received.

Hello Judy,

Green is no longer just for organic or natural products. It is our belief that a true
paradigm shift in consumer attitudes is evolving and that every business that
does not comply will eventually lose its support for more eco friendly options.
Body shop to botanics – every business has greener alternatives. Simply buying
recycled paper for the printer and collecting cans qualifies as a good start.
As your good friend Ron understands, the organic label is overused to the point
of confusion for the uneducated consumer. Being green and being organic are
related but not interchangeable terms. Sirjj Organics uses food grade pet plastics
to contain and protect our products. Is this plastic organic? No. Is it green?
Yes. At least in our application, though we do not know the manufacturing practices used to produce it. But yet we claim green and organic and were recently accepted by the EWG as having products that meet or exceed European standards of purity (much more stringent than USA and Canada).

As for our qualifications, of which we admit are humble, come from six years of working with my wife’s tough skin problem to try to find a natural solution, not necessarily an organic one. So we left the south and traveled out west learning not only skin care but green philosophy in general. We developed and still manufacture these products without the help of labs or paid chemists. After three years living in California, Oregon and Colorado, we have come home (Texas) to root our business and raise children near family.

Understanding that the movement is not just a western phenomenon and that it is here to stay is the basic founding thrust of our desire to find like minded people and work for growth. Many still have the mindset that green is a liberal movement, and nothing is further from the truth. Liberal or conservative – Body shop to botanicals – its all going green.

Sincerely,

Dane E.Johnson
