Sarah’s Regime Secrets – It’s Ok To Not Cleanse…Sometimes.
It’s ok to take a break from cleansing or only cleanse 1x daily…only occasionally.
I only cleanse 1x daily in the evenings — my skin is sensitive to over agitation from many years of using harsh acne fighting products (toxic cleansers, scrubs, cremes, masques)
Occasionally I will skip a day from cleansing to give my face a break.
Signs that your face needs a break from cleansing:
1) You notice persistant small bumps — not noticeable to the naked eye but tiny “goose bumps” – often a sign of over agitation
2) Skin seems dry and flakey on a daily basis – even when using a heavier moisturizer
3) Skin seems more red and irritated on a daily basis
What to do:
If cleansing 2x daily, drop to 1x daily cleanse in the evenings for 7 days
If cleansing 1x daily, drop to 1x every other day for 7 days — on the “off” days, rinse face with warm water, tone, and moisturize 2x daily
Often, a small break from cleansing, will allow the skin to “regroup” and adjust.
